Eliminate hard water problems throughout your entire home with a professional water softening system. Our equipment is engineered for North Carolina's toughest well water conditions, reducing scale buildup, protecting your appliances, and delivering cleaner, softer water from every tap. Rely on us in Charlotte, Concord, Kannapolis, Mooresville, Salisbury, Stanley, Lowell, and more.
Hard water doesn't just affect taste and appearance - it damages your plumbing, reduces appliance lifespan, and leaves your family with dry skin and dull hair. A whole home water softening system solves these problems at the source, treating all the water entering your home before it reaches any fixture, appliance, or person.
Our dual-tank water softening units provide continuous soft water, even during regeneration cycles. Built with USA-made components and engineered specifically for severe North Carolina well water conditions, these systems extract dissolved minerals like iron and manganese while removing hardness minerals. The result: cleaner water, spotless fixtures, longer-lasting appliances, and peace of mind.
It's hard to find good reliable business these days, but Rowan Well Drilling is top notch.

Common questions answered - your specific needs are best discussed in a consultation.
A whole home water softener works through a process called ion exchange. As water enters the unit, it passes through a tank filled with ion exchange resin beads. These beads capture the hardness minerals in your water - calcium and magnesium - and release sodium ions in exchange. The freshly softened water then flows on to every tap, fixture, and appliance in your home.
Over time the resin becomes saturated with the minerals it has collected, so the system periodically regenerates using a brine (salt) solution. This flushes the captured minerals down the drain and recharges the resin so it is ready to soften water again. Because our dual-tank systems use a second tank, soft water keeps flowing to your home even while one tank is regenerating.
The difference comes down to dissolved minerals. Hard water carries high levels of calcium and magnesium, while soft water has had those hardness minerals removed.
Effects of hard water:
Benefits of soft water:
Yes - our systems are specifically engineered for North Carolina well water and are designed to remove dissolved, soluble iron (ferrous iron) along with manganese. Removing this dissolved iron prevents the rust and orange-brown staining that shows up on sinks, tubs, toilets, and laundry, and it noticeably improves the taste and clarity of your water.
Keep in mind that very heavy iron concentrations, or iron that has already oxidized or is bacterial in nature, may call for a dedicated iron filtration stage in addition to the softener. We evaluate exactly what your water needs during our water testing so the system is matched to your well.
How often you add salt depends on several factors unique to your home:
Most homes add salt roughly every 4-8 weeks. We recommend keeping the brine tank at least one-quarter to one-half full so the system always has salt available to regenerate. During your walkthrough we show you exactly how to check salt levels and add pellets so it becomes a quick, simple routine.
Yes - softened water is safe for both drinking and cooking. The amount of sodium added during softening is minimal for typical hardness levels, and many people actually prefer softened water because it tastes cleaner and leaves no gritty mineral residue behind.
If you are on a sodium-restricted diet or simply prefer untreated water for drinking, we can install a point-of-use reverse osmosis or dedicated drinking water system right at your kitchen tap, giving you the best of both.
A quality whole home softener typically lasts 10-15 years or more with proper maintenance. A few simple habits go a long way toward extending its life:
Our USA-made systems are built to withstand harsh well water conditions and include warranties covering major components, so you can count on dependable soft water for years.
Every water softening installation follows a proven process, designed to deliver lasting results.
We test your well water to measure hardness, iron content, and mineral composition. This analysis determines the right system and capacity for your home.
Based on test results and household water demand, we recommend a dual-tank softening unit sized for continuous soft water delivery.
Our licensed technicians install the softener, connect plumbing, configure electrical components, and integrate it seamlessly with your existing system.
We fill the system with premium resin, set up salt delivery, and program regeneration cycles optimized for your water conditions and usage.
We test softened water from multiple fixtures to confirm the system is delivering the expected softness and mineral removal.
